very useful & works well once you've got the config ok.

took me a while to figure out:

a) hard-coded absolute path (required PL reinstall)
b) List ID had to be 2 or higher to work as test list used up first ID
c) Db user naming issue- fun with hosted sites!

looks like i fell at every fence

Anyhoo- what I'm having issues with now is, the subscription emails show xml tags for line-break

whether I check plain-text or html. I've tried typing directly into the text entry box, pasting from notepad; apart from sending one long unbroken line of text, nothing works. I'm using smtp rather than PHPMailer function.

Any thoughts?

Interesting thread...I'm glad you manage to overcome those issues and you post your solutions here as they may help anyone having similar problems.

Is this happening with the welcome email? or with the newsletters?
Are you seeing xml OR html code?
is your Joomla installation in English?

Are you seeing this problem with a particular email client?

btw I notice the subscr mod does not invoke activation, just adds user straight into the list, is this a wishlist for next rev?

which I never entered- I just hit return at the end of a line, as I typed the text for the welcome message in the subscr mod
